If you know anything about me, you would know that I'm a huge fan of a TV show called Gilmore Girls. About once a year I will watch the entire series back to back and I never get tired of it.
In one episode Lorelei and Luke break up and the entire town is divided by pink and blue ribbons. I thought it would be cute to see if people were on Team Luke (boy) or Team Lorelei (girl). More people guessed overall that it was a boy.
I woke this morning very anxious about my doctor's appointment today. I couldn't wait to find out the sex of our baby. We have been calling out little peanut, "Pedro."
So, the technician asked us immediately if we wanted to know the sex of our baby. I eagerly told her yes! She said that she would walk us through what she was seeing and would explain things to us.
We got to see the baby's head, arms, legs, heart, spine, etc. So we know that our baby has all the right body parts and everything looked really good. I'm not sure if the technician says this to all expecting mothers but it made me feel really good. She also said that our baby was at a good healthy size which also gave me a big sigh of relief. We were able to see the heartbeat and all the ventricles!
However, the baby would not give us a profile. So the technician tried knocking on my tummy to see if the baby would turn. Finally, she had to ask me to lay on my side to see if we could get the baby to turn. After a few minutes of laying on my left side, the baby still did not turn. So here is a picture of our baby, currently weighing in about 12 ounces.
Finally, we got to the point where we could see if it was a boy or girl by getting a look directly at the parts. Apparently, the baby had three little lines which indicate girl parts, which means we're having a girl! I'm surprised that my instincts were wrong the entire time. I only based this off of a dream I had, which I know is never accurate! Instead of Pedro, we're now calling her "Penny" short for Penelope! :0)
Her real name won't be revealed until she's here, in the meantime Eric and I will have to get serious about names!

congrats lil momma!!!
what an exciting day! our "big US" kind of sucked because not only did we not find out what the sex was (our choice though) but we found out theo had a single-umbilical artery. so i cried tons that day (as it turns out he was fine, but we didn't know that until he was born). your day sounds much nicer. now you can start to buy clothes!
Yay for Penny! So happy she's healthy. Today you guys took another exciting step towards parenthood! (It's slowly becoming more real now, isn't it?) Tomorrow... let the real planning and shopping begin. =)
