J and I went shopping beforehand at City Sprouts which is a boutique for children. I always love going in there even though I have never bought anything, but I love to see and dream what I would buy for my children if I were rich. One thing that I fell in love with were Mary Jane socks. Too bad they run six pairs for $25.00. Even I don't pay that much for socks. Hopefully they go on clearance before she gets here!
After shopping we all met up at Pi for dinner and enjoyed garlic bread, bada bing salad and then of course deep dish pizza. Then we drove and went to Brasserie. We had a difficult time finding parking and I convinced J to park in the Permit Parking only area. Since I live on the same street (different block) we have permit parking as well but it's only valid M-F from 8-5 p.m. So I figured it was the same.
Brasserie was really nice, Eric and I have passed by this place numerous times but I think we will have to go there for a really nice dinner. We had two amazing desserts: creme caramel and Fountaineer cake with lavender ice cream (sp?). Unfortunately, neither of these are on their online menu. They were both amazing.
As we walked back to the car, a lady was hovering over my J's car. She asked if this was her vehicle and she said yes. She then continued to harass us and tell us that we were parking in a permit parking area (I apologized and said that we were new there!) and then she told us she was about to call the cops (sigh, really?). I love living in the CWE but I don't like the uptight people who believe that every lawn should be perfectly manicured and there should be no grass between the sidewalk cracks. Who has time for that? And really? Of all the things that could be fixed in the community you bring that up? (how about the number of cars and break-ins of cars lately, why not do something about that?)
Unfortunately for me the next morning I woke up and had to rush to the bathroom to make my donation to the porcelain god from mother nature. However, this donation was not so pleasant (well none of them are). My puke was black which had me really worried. I called the doctor's office at 9 and they asked me a lot of questions but the main concern was blood. So I didn't think it was so they just told me to stay hydrated.
Friday night, Eric and I started measuring our bedroom to see if we could fit a dresser and crib. We aren't able to put the crib exactly where we wanted to but we switched the location of the dresser and the crib and everything will fit perfectly. Our dresser was in the basement so Eric went downstairs to get the measurements and then he told me that there was a bat in the basement. I freaked out because a bat is suppose to be in a cave, not in the basement. Eric was able to hit it with a broomstick and it fell. So then he put a bucket over it and cardboard under the bucket and took it outside. An hour later the bat was nowhere to be found.
The next day, I received a response from a craiglist ad that I had inquired about. It was in regards to a brand new in box pack n play and in the style that I wanted. I ended up with a bargain and was surprised that she took my offer. We paid $50 less than retail price (not including the cost of tax) through craigslist! I've never bought anything from there and was surprised. It was exactly like the lady described and that night Eric put it together and it was perfect. We just need to learn how to put it in that tiny bag that it came with.
Yesterday, I took a road trip with Eric, my mom, brother and cousin to Osage Beach. We went outlet shopping but unfortunately were only able to go to one store, Coach Outlet. My mother received a purse from my grandmother and she did not like the style so she went back to get it exchanged. We also got a great deal with an additional 20% off! People were buying purses like it was nothing!
After Coach, we had a picnic at Lake of the Ozarks State Park. They had an area for kids to swim in and there were a bunch of kids. A playground was available as well for those who did not want to swim. There was a ton of shade so it did not feel too hot (I had a personal fan myself). Even the bathroom facility (for the women) was decent. We had a lot of food: sandwiches, corn, peaches, plums, bananas and lots of water!
On the way back, my crazy brother decided to take off his shoes. I immediately turned around and asked him if he had just taken them off. When he said yes, I told him he needed to put them back on, because it smelled terrible. Nobody else smelled anything but Eric knows that my nose is sensitive to smell. So unfortunately, my brother had no choice but to put his shoes back on so that I could survive the drive back home. I did not care that his feet were "hot."
The baby birds has been living on our ledge until today. This morning I woke up and looked for them and they were gone. I even looked for them when I got off of work and they still had no returned and now that it's dark outside they are still not there. Mama bird has not been present for days. However, they certainly learn how to defend themselves like their mother did. They are no longer baby birds, they certainly look like teenagers!
Here's another belly picture at 23 weeks!
